“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

-Romans 12:1 (ESV)

In His time on earth, Jesus said, “I have not come to be served, but to serve” (Mark 10:45). His mission on earth was to serve his people and ultimately he did so by offering up his body as a sacrifice for us. We are then called to live our lives in an act of service to those around us. Our spouses, families, neighbors, churches, communities…we are to serve with everything we are. And doing so is an act of worship. When we become less so that others can become more, we are aligning ourselves with the life and death of Jesus and allowing ourselves to be ever more defined by the gospel. In a world that encourages us to seek our own way and pursue our own desires, the act of service is truly revolutionary and, just as with our savior, can change history.
